FEMINISM...
A feminist is a person who believes in the social, political and economic equality between women and men.
According to the Cambridge dictionary, feminism is “the belief that women should be allowed the same rights, power, and opportunities as men and be treated in the same way or the set of activities intended to achieve this state.”
So in general terms, feminism is a movement that looks to achieve equality for all.
The word feminism was first coined by socialist Charles Fourier in 183. He was a supporter of female emancipation and an advocate for the rights of women.
Years later, the term was translated into English and was considered as pejorative or used as an insult against women who demanded equal rights, the right to vote, education, work, and civil rights in general...
Now, academics have divided the feminist movement into three waves:
FIRST WAVE:
In the last 1880s and early 1900s, women started to write about the rights of women and described the rampant sexism and inequality that reigned.
Margaret Cavendish, Mary Wollstonecraft, and Sojourner Truth are some of the most notorious figures of the early feminist movement.
SECOND WAVE:
The second wave feminism took place approximately between the 1960s to 1990s. This movement was primarily focused on equality, discrimination, sexuality, and reproductive rights.
During this wave, women began to realize that the feminist movement was not very inclusive and that the movement should take into account race, ethnicity, class, religion, gender, and nationality since these factors are essential to understand inequality.
Therefore, the feminist movement began to shift towards a move inclusive approach which could be now defined as “a movement to end sexism, sexist exploitation, and oppression,” as described by bell hooks.
THIRD WAVE:
The movement started in the 1990s and continues until today, and although some argue that we’re now entering a Fourth Feminist Wave, this is still up for debate.
The current feminist movement is focused on dismantling gender constructions, the right to abortion, and the rights of the LGBTQIA+ community. More importantly, intersectional feminism is now at the forefront of the rights of women.
FEMINISM IN MEXICO:
In Mexico, feminist gained power during the Mexican Revolution, when people armed themselves against dictator Porfirio Díaz. During the armed conflict, women joined the cause as soldiers or by nursing the wounded, cooking, and setting up camps. They are known as soldaderas and Adelitas.
However, despite their contribution to the establishment of a democratic government and the vindication of the rights of farmers, women were denied civil rights and the right to vote. It wasn’t until 1927 when women were granted civil rights but weren’t allowed to vote until 1952.
Slowly, women got her powers legally and shine in her own talents.... She got the way to showcase her...
Now a days, most of the women thought that they have an equal powers of the men and practicing the behaviors of the men...
Most of the teen girls are going to pub and this is the usual thing that is happening now a days...
Frankly speaking, if a women is harassed by the men, the women is also the part of the crime... There is some other case where the women's part is nill... That's the rare case...but now the case is different.... Whatever the crime is happening the women is also the part of it....
I am not saying that women is misusing her rights... However the current scenario is that... Most of the women are thinking that they had a equal rights of men... Yes that's true.... Women has all rights and she is more powerful than the men...I completely agree on this... The crime cases against the women is increasing day by day... I am not completely against the women, I am saying that men alone is not a reason for the crime....
Women is the greatest power... Don't waste that power by saying feminism, feminist and so on... Men is also best in his own way... Similarly women is also super power in her own way... Don't mess with it... Don't against anything... So if we mix that two powers, we can achieve anything in this world.....
