Yazhi...

Can anyone guess what yazhi is? 

If I say yazhi is the strange animal, can you all believe? 

Yes, yazhi is the strange creature of an animal which is found in temples around India...

It has 4 legs which is like Lion, and it's body is like a horse and based on the face YAZHI is categorized into three types...

1.Mahara yazhi

2.Singa yazhi

3.Yaana yazhi

Magara yazhi contains the face of goat, 

Singa yazhi contains the face of lion mostly in pillars of the temple...

Yaana yazhi contains the face of  elephant... For these three breads the body structure are all same except the face...

    These creatures once lived in the kumari kandam... Kumari kandam is called as the Tamil continent.. Other people were ruled only the state or the country but our Tamil people ruled the entire continent... Unfortunately it immersed into the water... Once it was in the present Indian ocean...

This Yazhi was lives in the Ghats of the kumari kandam which was mentioned by the Ilango Adigal...

Yazhi is the most violent animal but still our great grandparents controlled this strange creature... Mostly yazli was controlled by AADHI CHOLAS..

Cholar's are categorized into 3 types... 

1.Aadhi cholas

2.Maha cholas

3.Telugu cholas

In Madurai Meenakshiamman Temple, this yazhi plays an prominent role in pillars..  Even in AAYIRAM KAAL MANDABAM, Each and every pillars of the MANDABAM contains this sculpture of yazhi... Even in Chidambaram and Tiruvannamalai...

Our forefathers trained wolf into dogs to guard them... Similarly God's are guarded by this YAZHI'S..

YAZHI'S are very strong animals similar to elephant... But it was controlled by our forefathers...

As of now the biggest land animal is elephant... But Yazhi was larger than elephant.. Just imagine... YAZHI can defeat elephants but still they are controlled by our forefathers... We have to be proud to say, they are our forefathers..... 

How they become extinct?

       Because of domestication 

       Because of migration

       Because of climatic changes

       Because of poaching and hunting by the kings...

How many of you went to the temple? 

Now tell me, how many of you watched this YAZHI? 

We have to respect our symbol of pride... 

Chinese believing dragons.... 

Similarly Greeks are believing phoenix... 

As a Tamilian we have to believe our identity... Its our duty to respect our identity...  Before spreading to the world as a Tamilian we have to know our great histories... Never ever forget our history... We have to take our history to our generations also...
